Banned USA Swim Coach Fired by Country Club of Colorado

The former national team director of USA Swimming, banned by the Colorado Springs-based national governing body for inappropriate sexual behavior, was fired Wednesday as the aquatics director of The Country Club of Colorado at Cheyenne Mountain Resort.

Everett Uchiyama was on a list released late Tuesday by USA Swimming of 46 people who received lifetime bans or permanently resigned their membership, mostly for sexual offenses. Also appearing on the list is Aaron Bartleson, the former head age-group coach of the Falfins swim club, based in the Springs.

Uchiyama's suspension with USA Swimming came Jan. 31, 2006, four days after he left his post as national team director. In a statement, The Country Club of Colorado said it "was previously unaware of the allegations. ... The Country Club of Colorado takes the welfare of its guests very seriously and took immediate action in regards to this matter."
