Rollovers...

gravity). Any vehicle whose stability factor is less than 1.2 is considered unreasonably prone to rollover. Numerous studies demonstrate the statistical relationship between T/2H and both the number of rollover accidents and the incidence of rollover fatalities. Automobile manufacturers continue to ignore the growing rate of rollover accidents when design remedies as simple as proper tires or widening a vehicle's track width by 1/2 inch can make dramatic differences. It appears the problem will only get worse as manufacturers expect that the new class of mini-sport utility vehicles will become the leader in sales to younger drivers. If past trends continue, numerous lives will be needlessly claimed despite overwhelming evidence of the unreasonably dangerous tendency of certain sport utility vehicles to roll over in foreseeable driving conditions. Our firm is currently handling several crashworthiness actions, including several rollover cases. graph

Trial Lawyer Resources Abound on The Internet

One of the most overlooked resources available to attorneys who use the Internet, is the myriad of discussion groups or "list-servers" that exist for the discussion of legal topics. Our firm currently provides the "list owner" for the Trial Lawyers ListServ at Washburn University School of Law.

The Trial Lawyers ListServ, which can be accessed via electronic mail, features regular members of the Kansas and Missouri Bar, and a host of national trial lawyers, who exchange ideas and share information on legal topics. The Internet address is: trial-lawyers@assocdir.wuacc.edu. An email message sent to this address appears on the general list-server, and everyone who is a regular member of the list-server can see and respond to the message. To subscribe an interested attorney can send a message to: listserv@assocdir.wuacc.edu. The subject field can be left blank, but the first line of the message should read: "subscribe trial-lawyers [your name]." (without the quotation marks). So a message sent to that address with the text "subscribe trial-lawyers John Doe" would sign up that individual for access to the listserv.

Other listservers include the health law and kansas lawyers listserv at Washburn, as well as the listservs sponsored by ATLA. Anyone needing additional information can contact A. L. DeWitt by email at aldewitt@unicom.net. Look for our web site coming soon!
