Sisters Represented by SJB Reach Verruckt Settlement

Two sisters, Hannah Barnes, and Matraca Baetz reached a settlement with the owners of Schlitterbahn water park.  The sisters were injured on the Verrückt water slide the day an Olathe boy, Caleb Schwab, was killed.

SJB attorney Lynn Johnson, who represents the women, said the settlement amount would not be disclosed.  An important condition of settlement – the demolition and removal of the tower and slide – was agreed-to prior to consideration of any terms.

“They feel good that it’s behind them and they feel good that there’s been an agreement to remove the Verrückt, to tear down the tower and remove all of the slides,” said Johnson.

The sisters were in the raft with Caleb when the tragic accident occurred.   The women suffered serious facial injuries as a result of the accident.
