A History of Community and Empowerment

The annual Conference dates back to 1989 when the Topeka Women Attorneys Association, led by Justice Marla Luckert, held the first statewide meeting in Kansas for female attorneys. For the next five years, the Conference was jointly hosted by the Wichita Women Attorneys Association and the Topeka Women Attorneys Association (now the Women Attorneys Association of Topeka).

In 1994, what would eventually become the Kansas Women Attorney Association, then known as the Jennie Mitchell Kellogg Circle, was formed in response to a need for a permanent association specifically dedicated to women attorneys in Kansas. Today, the KWAA continues to host the annual Conference, now in its 32nd year, to bring female legal professionals together for two and a half days of networking, education, and fun.

At Shamberg, Johnson & Bergman, Chtd., we strongly believe in supporting local legal organizations within our community. We are proud to sponsor this year’s conference and look forward to an exciting, fun, and successful event.
